Today, nonprofit organization Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC) releases a statement following an article detailing new research that may help slow the progression of brain cancer and its recurrence.
According to RedOrbit.com, “Scientists have long believed that glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive type of primary brain tumor, begins in glial cells that make up supportive tissue in the brain or in neural stem cells. In a paper published October 18 in Science Express, however, researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies have found that the tumors can originate from other types of differentiated cells in the nervous system, including cortical neurons.”
“GBM is one of the most devastating brain tumors that can affect humans. Despite progress in genetic analysis and classification, the prognosis of these tumors remains poor, with most patients dying within one to two years of diagnosis. The Salk researcher’s findings offer an explanation for the recurrence of GBM following treatment and suggest potential new targets to treat these deadly brain tumors,” explains the article. The article also states that the Salk scientists used genetically engineered mice to conduct their study. “The scientists say the tumors in their mouse model are similar to GBMs that affect humans. Because they have the same pathology and characteristic genetic signature, scientists can study potential therapies in mice that should, theoretically, work in humans. While they may not eradicate GBM, these therapies may slow the progression of the disease and improve patients’ quality of life,” RedOrbit.com reports.

Even though the insights from this study may not eliminate the disease entirely, the fact that the hard work of researchers could improve the quality of life for patients and help not only those diagnosed, but also all of those affected by the disease is inspiring and gives hope.”

Etiket Launches On-Going Series of Videos Produced by Intervista Films
Etiket announced today the launch of a series of bilingual videos produced by Intervista Films to take their customers behind the scenes in the beauty world. The Etiket Insider YouTube Channel is the latest vehicle from Etiket to ensure that the beauty customer is able to have the latest information on skin care, hair care, perfume, and make-up.

Many of the products we carry have an incredible story behind them, and what better way to show our existing and potential customers than through video? A new documentary just released by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), The Age of Fear: Psychiatry’s Reign of Terror, reveals shocking new facts surrounding the hidden psychiatric influence behind the horrors Hitler and his henchmen unleashed on those they deemed “unworthy of life” during the Third Reich in Nazi Germany.

Sieczkowski went on to state, “A ‘Healing Hailey’ campaign was launched online, with Indiegogo collecting almost $15,000 in donations for the family. One of the campaign's followers called TMZ to spread the word about Hailey and her love for Bieber. TMZ then contacted Bieber's manager Scooter Braun about the little girl.” According to the article, support for the campaign grew, including the production of a video from a local high school in hopes that Bieber would see it. Supporters also began using the Twitter hashtag “#JustinVisitHailey.”
The Healing Hailey campaign proved a success when the 18-year-old pop star traveled to Milwaukee’s BMO Harris Bradley Center to meet Roser. According to The Huffington Post, the cancer patientlater tweeted: “Sad today is over but happy best day I've had in a long time thanks to all of you love you all especially @justinbieber for giving me #hope.”

Spartan Race, hailed as the Best Obstacle Race of 2012 by Outside Magazine, will host an Obstacle Race demo in Times Square
Obstacle Racing has taken America by storm - the biggest thing in adventure sports. Over 1.5 million people have competed in an obstacle race in 2012 and now, for the first time, they'll be able to test themselves against the best in Times Square.
